Seaburn Warrior Competition Preview

weekend we have the best Seaburn Warrior competition that'll be taking place on May 30th, beginning at 9:30 in the Waynesville Ruby Doo Park. This competition will be on the way. They're going to be testing the strongest, the smartest, and the most determined chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear soldier in the United States Army. These warriors train right here next door at Fort Linnwood, and their excellence reflects on every one of us here in Waynesville. So I want to invite you out. Come out and join us on Saturday and watch these Warriors uh compete and do their best for their nation and for their units.

Team Justice 3v3 Soccer With Purpose

Moving on to Sunday, May 31st, we have the Team Justice fifth annual 3v3 lockup. It's going to take over our community. We always have people that travel from far and wide to come down and compete in this 3v3 competition that takes place in the Ruby Doo Park. Um, this is a three-on-three soccer tournament with a heart bigger than the field. Team Justice brings together officers, deputies, families, and community members for a day built around mentorship, sportsmanship, and these will be the kids that lead our communities tomorrow. So this Sunday, let's show up for Team Justice as they continue to put on this great event for our community and also for our young athletes.

Kids To Park Day Details

Let's look a week ahead. Just to remind everyone on June 6th, we have the annual Kids to Park Day in the Rubido Park. This event is great for our community. There's a lot of opportunities for our kids to come out and experience things that they have not experienced before, different sports, different activities. Um, is a day of fun and connection with our community, and also they have a chance to win prizes. And I'll say it's just a fun-filled day. Come on out and support that event. It will start at 9 a.m. in the Waynesville Ruby Doo Park. It goes from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. And we want you to bring out your kids, your grandkids, your neighbors' kids, and just turn off the screens for that day. Get them outside, get them outside any environment. They'll play games, have activities, get some fresh air, and the best part is right here in our park, one of the most premiered parks in this region. We have a lot of visitors that come and um spend time in our parks, and I'm gonna tell you right now, we have received nothing but rave reviews. So come on out and uh get your kids out there and come have some fun. I'll see you out there on June 6th at 9 a.m. Between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. for the kids to park day event.

Splash Pad Opens For Summer

I also want to make this announcement today that the Waynesville Ruby does park splash pad is now open for the summer. It is here. The splash pad in Rubydo Park is officially open for the season. Whether you've got a toddler or a swimsuit ready to go, the grandkids visiting, and you can come out to the park and spend time in that the Waynesville Ruby do Splash Park, which is a great hit every summer. So when it's hot and you want to cool off, just bring your kids down to the park and enjoy yourself and allow your kids to connect with others in the community.

Airport Terminal Renovation Timeline

Just a quick update on the airport terminal reconstruction project. For those that remember, we had started a renovation project on our airport on the fort, um, which by the way has flights that go to Nashville and Dallas, and we have free parking. So I want to go ahead and invite you out to utilize those services. It's a great flight. I've used it a few times myself, and if it fits your timeline, I tell you you you won't waste your money or your time. It'll be a great experience for you and your family. With that being said, the renovation project um will we're expecting right now that the project will be done around August September time frame, which is great news for our community as they expand the terminal to provide service to more people within the region. So just keep an eye out, we'll keep everyone informed on the process as it continues to go forth. And I hope that you would utilize those services because that is a great asset and resource to our community for you to fly to the east coast or west coast or any part around the world. So you go to two major hubs, you can go to Dallas or you can go to Nashville. Pick your pick your choice, pick your direction, but choose the Fort Lindwood Airport.

Sidewalk Work And Summer Music Series

Also, our sidewalk project is still on the way. This project will not be complete until um we reach Icord and 66. So the sidewalk project will complete from iCord and 66. Once the weather subsides, they can continue to do the work and complete that project. I also want to remind everyone that we have a summer series that is taking place this summer. Um in the Ruby Doo Park. There will be live music that will be played. We have bands coming in pretty much every month throughout the summer. Um, and we want you to come out and support this. This is an opportunity for you to come out, bring out the family, listen to some music, and we do have some great talent that will be in our community. We're looking for vendors, we're looking for people to participate. We want you to come out and support this event because we want to continue to do this next year. And also, I want to point out that on the 4th of July, the 4th of July in the Waynesville Ruby Doo Park, we will have fireworks for our community and we will have a live concert. So come make plans, bring your chair, bring your friends, bring bring people from outside the community. But let's meet in the Ruby Doo Park, let's celebrate this great nation together, and let's have a safe holiday weekend

The Great Race And Volunteering

that weekend. I also want to let everyone know that on June 21st, we have the great race that'll be visiting our city, the city of Waynesville, which is a host city for this magnificent event. We want to make sure that we have people come from far and wide. This event is going to be amazing. We have an opening ceremony that begins at 1155 is the time, and the vehicles will be arriving during that time. So let's come out. Um, invite your friends, come see some amazing vehicles and meet some um wonderful people. There's also volunteer opportunities if you want to help um guide the cars into their parking spots or just want to come out and participate. You're gonna utilize our Waynesville City app to find out opportunities for volunteerism and sign up there. But we would just want to encourage everyone to come out and support this event. This is going to be great for our community. And if you have businesses going on, hey, you need to tie in, take advantage of this opportunity because this is going to be a wonderful time to help share your unique services with from people from all over the world. So remember, June 21st. June 21st, beginning around I'll say about 11:30, show up. Um, but the opening ceremony will begin at 11 55. We will have the colors, we'll have the singing of the national anthem, and we will guide these vehicles, these cars into our community and welcome them with open arms.
