Speaker 1:

Good morning. This is Sean Wilson, the mayor of Waynesville, with your weekly update for August 25th 2025. Last week the city held its city council meeting and had several actions that took place. First, I want to say congratulations, welcome and thank you to two of our citizens who stepped up to volunteer and serve in our community. First, with the resignation of Ryan Hicks this past July, there was a vacancy in Ward 2 for a city council seat. Those that may remember I sent out a request for candidates who would be interested in filling this unexpired term of Mr Hicks and we received one candidate. The window of opportunity for that position was open for nearly two months. A window of opportunity for that position was open for nearly two months and on this last week we conducted a swearing in of Anthony Harold. Councilman Harold is very excited about being a part of the team and is active in our community. In fact, mr Harold is currently enrolled in participating in the Waynesville St Robert Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Pulaski County class this year. If you see Mr Harrell, please congratulate him and thank him for his willingness to serve. Just to be clear, mr Harrell will have to run for reelection in April of 2026 if he desires to continue to serve the city in that capacity. To serve the city in that capacity Also.

Speaker 1:

We have Mr Donald Coleman, who has volunteered to fill one of two empty seats on our planning and zoning board. This board meets once a month and provides the opportunity to serve the city. Mr Coleman is excited about being a part of the team and I ask that, if you run into him as well, that you thank him also for volunteering to give his time to support our city and its mission to serve you. I would also like to encourage any citizen interested in serving the community to consider volunteering for one of our city boards. Current openings are available on as one opening on a planning zoning board and other opportunities as slots become available, including the Board of Adjustments and the Waynesville City Park Board To be considered. Please complete a volunteer application which can be found on the city's website at waynesvillemoorg. You may also reach out to me directly at mayor at waynesvillemoorg. That's mayor at waynesvillemoorg. That's mayor at waynesvillemoorg. And even if there is no immediate openings, I will maintain a list of those who are willing to volunteer and when a slot comes available I will contact you. We need your help to continue to improve our community.

Speaker 1:

Other actions include two public hearings. The first public hearings for that was for the ad valorem tax rate, and also the second one was for the proposed HB 2025-29 approving the petition for expansion of the community improvement district. Both of these initiatives were approved by the council with a unanimous vote. I'd also like to add that state representative Don Mayhew showed up and he shared a legislative update on the current initiatives and bills that were currently being passed and changes that were soon to come. I encourage you to go back and look at the recording to get all of the specifics and details, but I will share that. Mr Mayhew said that he would make it his point to get out and talk and update and speak with the constituents, because he found that was very important. We also received a city update from John Doyle, who gave a comprehensive update of all the current projects and future projects that will be taking place over the next 30 to 60 days. We had one resolution that was proposed and that is resolution 0625, which was approving the preliminary plat for Pinnacle Park. Uh, mark routing.

Speaker 1:

We also had several ordinances in that past. We also had several ordinances that were also proposed and all passed by unanimous vote HB 2025-30, which was authorizing the agreement of the PayPro Corporation and PayPro and Human Resource Record Management System record management system. We had HB 2025-31, which was the approval of the mid-year budget adjustment for fiscal year 2025. We had HB 2025-32, which was the disclosure of conflict of interest update.
