Good morning. This is Sean Wilson, the mayor of Waynesville, with your weekly update for July 14th 2025. Community announcement residential trash schedule updates. They have changed Effective July 17th. They will begin residential trash collection rounds starting at 6 am and not 7 am, so you have to get your trash out a little bit earlier. This is for safety and well-being of their employees. The St Robert Transfer Station would kindly ask all residents to place their waste curbside the evening prior to the scheduled pickup date to ensure service is not missed. If you have any questions, please contact St Robert Transfer Station at 573-336-5155. And thank you for your cooperation and your support.
Speaker 1:The city of Waynesville will have its city council meeting Thursday, july 17th, at 5 pm. Of course, all citizens are always invited to participate and come to learn more about what your calendars for Old Settlers Day 2025, which will take place on July 26th and the 27th in the Ruby Dew Arc. This will be a weekend of history, music and community fun, held again on Saturday and Sunday. The opening ceremony will be at 10 am on july 26th and we will have the civil war skirmishes. That'll be at 11 am, 1 pm and 3 pm. We will also have 11 30 am. There'll be an armed service ymca duck race and there'll be live music. So come out, join us and bring your family.

Therefore, we encourage all residents to engage in protecting our community's property and report any safety issues they observe. While social media can be a useful platform for sharing concerns, it is essential to file official reports of any violation through our central dispatch office. Social media posts may be may not always reach our city staff effectively. So if you see something, please say something so we can do something. Together we can work towards resolving these issues and enhancing our community's safety.
Speaker 1:That includes down in our city park. We have no smoking and no drinking areas. Please attention to the signs of the Little Heroes Playground, the splash pad. These has already been posted. Smoking encompasses all kinds of smoking. That includes vaping. That includes marijuana, includes cigarettes, smoking and smoking. Speaker 1:Lastly, we are heartbroken to share the news of Mitch McDonald's passing this past Sunday. A dedicated city employee who retired in 2021,. Mitch made significant contributions as a building inspector and a public works director, and he also served a term as a city councilman. His commitment to service. It extended beyond our community as he honorably retired as a sergeant major in the Marine Corps. On behalf of the city staff, we want to express our heartfelt condolences to the McDonald family and all who knew and loved him. Our hearts are heavy with sorrow and we join you in mourning this profound loss. We pray for healing and comfort for the family during this incredible and difficult time. He was such a precious gift and friend to many of our employees and, as always, I want to thank you, the citizens of Waynesville, for your continued support in making Waynesville a wonderful place to live, work and thrive.
