I want to personally thank Mr Hicks for his service and dedication to our community. This volunteer position will serve for the remaining 10 months of the current term. The selected candidate may also choose to run for a full two-year term in the April 2026 election. To be eligible for this opportunity, you must reside in Ward 2 at the time of appointment. To apply, please submit a volunteer application that's available at City Hall or on the city website waynesvillemodeorg, and type in in the search bar volunteer and you'll see the application. We're excited to make mention also this week for Officer Corey Hoard, who was recognized at our previous city council meeting. So at last week's city council meeting we had a great honor of recognizing K-9 Officer Corey Hoard as the Waynesville Police Department Officer of the Year. We currently have 11 different communication tools to keep residents informed. The app is one of the fastest and most efficient ways to stay connected and we are aiming for 2000 downloads by the end of the year. So please help us reach our goal, help us spread the word and let's stay connected, just as a friendly reminder that firework safety and the city does have ordinances that we need to follow in our community.
