Speaker 1:

Good morning. This is Sean Wilson, the Mayor of Waynesville, with your weekly update for May 26, 2025. On this past Monday, I had the opportunity to attend the Fort Leonard Wood Veterans Cemetery Memorial Day Ceremony. It was a great turnout as we gathered to reflect and honor our fallen servicemen and women. The organization always does a fantastic job honoring the fallen and their families, so thank you to Anastasia Wilson, who is the director of the Missouri Veterans Cemetery of Fort Leonard Wood, and her team of volunteers, who continue to make this a great honor tradition. Also, last week we had our city council meeting, where we had an appointment to the planning and zoning board and also a few ordinances that were proposed and approved. First, we had our city council meeting, where we had an appointment to the planning and zoning board and also a few ordinances that were proposed and approved. First, we had our formal recognition of our tax center volunteers, led by Sherry Hopkins, who served over 1000 patrons with her team of six people this last tax season. We look forward to having them return next year to continue to provide this premium service to our community. They all received a city cup, a coin and the Mayor's Route 66 Meritorious Award for Excellence. I will only present 66 of these awards and it is reserved for exceptional contributions to our community. To our community. I also shared the plaque with the citizens and the council from my visit to the Pentagon and receiving the Army Partnership Award with our partners at Fort Leonard Wood, st Robert, for the work that was done for the airport extension terminal project, for the contract extension. There will be a recognition ceremony With the leadership from Fort Leonard Wood and St Robert On June 13th at 9 am At the Lincoln Hall Auditorium At the Misko Headquarters Building. The recommendation of Earl Arnold To fill the vacant planning and zoning board seat Was unanimously approved by the council and we are very happy to have him on the team. So congratulations and welcome. We also had the opportunity to hear a report from our financial officer, amber Box, as it relates to our finances and our budget in conjunction with the proposed one cent sales tax. We will ensure that this presentation is made available to the public and we also plan on holding a town hall meeting this summer to answer questions of the citizens as it relates to this proposed one cent sales tax that were proposed is HB 2025-25 is jurisdiction of animals to be housed at the Waynesville St Robert Animal Shelter.

Speaker 1:

The first of three ordinances that were proposed and approved by the council is HB 2025-25, which is an ordinance amending the chapter 15 of the municipal code of the city of Waynesville regarding the city animal shelter. The council finds it high of high importance to specify within the municipal code that these animals shall not be admitted that come outside of the jurisdiction to the Waynesville St Robert animal shelter, except under special written agreement with the jurisdictions that may they may originate from. The second proposed ordinance is HB 2025-26, which is an ordinance amending Chapter 111 of the Municipal Code of the City of Waynesville regarding the committees of the City Council. So, due to the addition of certain departments within the City of Waynesville, city staff has suggested amending the titles and responsibilities of some city council committees and, after careful review, the city council also agrees that these changes are needed to better reflect the certain responsibilities of the city council in regards to the committees. If you want to find out more information about any of these ordinances that I'm mentioning, you can always visit the app and it'll lead you to all of our information that is posted there and you can read it in its entirety. I'm just giving you a brief overview of what the ordinance is referring to, and the last ordinance was HB 2025-27, which is an ordinance that is authorizing the mayor and or the city administrator to enter into the airport aid supplemental agreement between the city of Waynesville and the city of St Robert and the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission for construction of the commercial terminal facility. And the last ordinance was HB 2025-27, which is an ordinance authorizing the mayor and the and or the city administrator to enter into an airport and supplemental agreement between the city of St Robert and the Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission for the construction of a commercial terminal facility. The city council of the city of Waynesville entered into an airport aid agreement with the city of St Robert and the Missouri Highway Transportation Commission on January 16, 2024 for the construction of the commercial terminal facility located at the Waynesville St Robert Regional Airport. The commission has sufficient funds to increase the grant amount for the project and the city council wishes to accept this additional grant funding to complete the construction of the commercial terminal facility. Again, all of the ordinances were that were presented, were approved and will be moving forward.

Speaker 1:
